Five hydration mechanisms working at different depths. Not just surface moisture that evaporates within an hour.
A ceramide complex at the exact molar ratio found in healthy skin. Helps support the look and feel of a barrier compromised by daily cleansing and active ingredients.
Fragrance-free, dye-free, essential oil-free. Ectoin and ceramides are both well-tolerated by compromised and sensitive skin.
Designed to layer over retinol, acids, or vitamin C. Formulated without ingredients that compete with or destabilize your actives.
Lightweight enough for mornings under SPF, rich enough to be your last step at night. One product, both routines.
Every hero ingredient is backed by published, peer-reviewed research. Ingredient citations listed on this page; not marketing claims.
Most creams hydrate the surface. Twenty minutes later, that moisture is gone. We formulated this differently.
Five protection layers. Hydration that holds. A barrier that lasts.

Snow Mushroom Barrier Cream is the final step in the Leiba routine — designed to seal in everything that came before and protect your barrier through the day and night.
Each layer targets a different depth and mechanism. Together, they keep moisture in and environmental stress out.
Pro tip: Apply to slightly damp skin for maximum absorption.

“My barrier was the last thing I thought about until it was the only thing I could think about.
Years of layering actives without protecting what was underneath left me reactive, dry, and frustrated. Nothing I tried was actually rebuilding anything; it was all just temporary relief.
I created this cream because I needed something that didn’t just add moisture.
It needed to rebuild what I’d stripped away from years of working in the operating room. The snow mushroom and ceramide combination in this formula is the result of months of work with our chemist to get the ratio, the texture, and the science right. The ectoin is what makes this different from every other ceramide moisturizer I’d tried. It’s the piece I was missing.
This is the product I wish had existed when my skin was at its worst.”
Snow mushroom (Tremella fuciformis) is a fungal polysaccharide that holds moisture more effectively than hyaluronic acid in low-humidity environments, because it doesn’t draw water from within your skin. It forms a flexible hydration film that stays put. Published research shows Tremella polysaccharides maintain moisture and collagen levels even under UV stress, making it a genuine all-condition hydrator.
Yes. This formula is fragrance-free, tested at pH 5.0–5.5 (matching your skin’s natural range), and built around ingredients with well-documented tolerance profiles. The ceramide complex directly supports barrier repair for reactive skin. It is also formulated to work alongside actives — retinol, vitamin C, acids — not against them.
Yes! This is designed for exactly that purpose. The ceramide complex and ectoin actively counterbalance the barrier stress that exfoliants and actives can create. Apply your actives first, let them absorb, then layer this on top as the final sealing step.
No. The base uses a lightweight cushion-cream texture with dimethicone, which feels silky, not oily, and absorbs in under a minute. Most users with oily or combination skin can use it without any heaviness. If you have very oily skin, start with a pea-sized amount.
CeraVe contains ceramides, and that’s genuinely a good thing. Ceramides are foundational to barrier health, and CeraVe deserves credit for bringing that science to the mass market.
The difference is what surrounds them.
This formula adds Snow Mushroom polysaccharides, documented to outperform hyaluronic acid in sustained hydration, not found in CeraVe. Ectoin, an extremolyte that forms a protective water shield around skin cells under environmental stress, not found in any mass-market ceramide cream. GABA, which upregulates Aquaporin-3 and increases filaggrin expression at the cellular level. And a botanical antioxidant complex: white tea (EGCG), Rosa Canina flower extract (quercetin, rutin, catechin), and fermented bamboo that neutralizes the free radical damage ceramides alone can’t address.
It’s also formulated with purified water, manufactured in a GMP-certified facility, and pH-balanced at 5.0–5.5 for high-grade active delivery.
CeraVe is built for accessibility. This is built for a different standard.
Both. It’s lightweight enough for daytime use under SPF and heavy enough to give your barrier what it needs overnight. Most people find it works best applied to slightly damp skin for maximum absorption.
